Allen Freight Services began operations in Jacksonville, FL on January 1, 1995, but the company history goes back much further than that.  In fact, before the creation of AFS, some of the current personnel had worked together for nearly ten years at predecessor companies, including Allen Freight Lines in Kansas City, KS and Allen Freight Trailer Bridge in Jacksonville, FL. 

AFS has handled a large variety of general commodities over the years focusing on “driver friendly” and drop and hook business whenever possible.  As a small company in the early days we tried to find a niche with customers looking for the personal touch and offering above average service.   We have always believed it essential to offer personalized attention to both our customers and our drivers and although we have seen significant growth over the years this philosophy is as important today as it was when we started.

Allen Freight became a division of PTSI  in the Spring of 1996.  With the support and encouragement of this much larger organization we have experienced significant growth and benefited from improved technologies.  Our association with PTSI has allowed us to expand our customer base and to offer a greater variety of services to current and potential customers.

AFS currently employs 220 drivers, sixteen office personnel and two mechanics at locations in Jacksonville, FL and Columbia, MS.  We operate in many of the same areas as other PTSI companies, but have been focusing more and more on developing a larger operation in the Southeast.   We continue to work on matching up business running between Georgia, the Carolinas and Florida and are also focusing on developing an intrastate Florida fleet.
